Farming with Passion & Excellence

Farming with Passion & Excellence

To set up successful, profitable farming operations in Africa.
Having the right climate and available land is not always enough to achieve successful farming practices. If the right planning and preparation has not been done, the chance of long term success is unlikely. So just as a seed needs a well prepared field in order to take root and produce a plentiful harvest, so does any agricultural project. Planning is key. “Failing to plan, is planning to fail” – Benjamin Franklin. That is why Agri East Africa uses all the latest science and technology in order to avoid pitfalls further on down the line. Our use of the latest drone technology will enable you to plan your farm with expert advice on where to place buildings, fields and dams. We also use the best engineering teams who specialise in agriculture, to design and construct sheds, dairy parlours, feed and grain storage facilities. We source the best livestock and farming implements for each project and provide all the necessary training to make sure your farming operation runs as efficiently as possible.

Dairy Consulting

At Derrylin Agricultural services we eat and sleep dairy and believe that dairy farming in Africa has enormous potential as fresh milk of a high quality is very limited outside of South Africa, Namibia and Zambia.
We have realised the enormous price difference of fresh milk between the farm and the market and we also understand the issues that face the milk processor with collection logistics, the standard of milk quality with reference to bacteria, cooling speed, somatic cell counts, butterfat and protein levels and hence know that the opportunity for larger scale commercial farms is limitless on the continent as the continent is in desperate need of dairy units that can consistently produce volume and quality milk 365 days a year.
We specialise in planning these operations, managing the project from the food the cows require to the end product of high quality milk from a functional herd.
Our standard is to have 80% of adult females in production with Jersey herds on TMR averaging over 6000kg of milk per cow per 305 milking days a year, and Holstein cows on TMR at a minimum of 7500kg of milk per cow per 305 milking days a year with Intercalving periods being no more than 400 days.
In order to achieve these minimum requirements we know that GENETICS+NUTRITION+ COW COMFORT = PROFIT, and therefore we plan and manage from the construction to the planting and harvesting of fodder.
In Africa good quality roughage and even meals are not always easily available and we believe that a dairy farmer needs to concentrate on fodder production to achieve the highest profit margin possible and this is where Agri EA specialises.
In our dairy team we have experienced dairy farmers, nutritionists, silage specialists, cattle judges, milk machine experts and engineers that specialise in dairy design and construction, nutrition, fodder crops, feed milling, livestock selection and transport, livestock training, computer recording of cows, artificial insemination, breeding and forward planning.
We are the full dairy package, from designing the farm to designing your labels that will go on the milk bottles or dairy products.
If you are looking for a team that can establish your dairy business or take your existing dairy to a whole new level, we are the guys for you, a hands on team of farmers with practical experience in the field, guys that get stuck in and get the job done.
We take each dairy farm personally like it were our own, and we are not a sales team that are selling equipment and our job is done, we take pride in seeing every project through to an end, which for us is a profitable and sustainable dairy farm where management is in place and staff are well trained to the level where they don’t require our services any longer, (until they realise the potential and call us to expand their operation) that’s when we have done our job.

Development and Community Farms

At Derrylin Agricultural Services we believe in the saying, "If you give a man a fish you feed him for a day, but if you teach him how to fish you feed him for a lifetime."
We have experience in community projects and realise that one small dairy farm can sustain many families in a community.

•    People to milk and look after the animals
•    People to market the milk
•    People to grow fodder crops
•    People to mill and mix cattle feed

This takes a lot of experience, training and management, but we are confident with the correct business plan and the correct investors we can impact communities, making them self-sufficient for generations to come.

When a community is chosen with a real vision to impact that community, it is indeed possible to succeed, from dairy to beef and then vegetables.
The community needs to be assessed, land rights need to be known and a plan is always possible with the correct vision and knowledge of the continent.
We at Derrylin Agricultural Services know that we are the team with the experience and the will to see community projects succeed in Africa.
